Our Explore Together telephone support service is no longer available.
If you or someone you know requires telephone support and companionship, visit one of the following services from NHS Care Volunteer Responders:
Check In and Chat
Friendly telephone chats and encouragement to reduce loneliness and improve a person’s wellbeing. You can receive either one call a day or one call a week for up to 18 weeks with a different volunteer each time.
Available for people who may need a friendly chat and some encouragement to improve their mental health and wellbeing. Read the referral criteria.
Volunteer activities are not designed to be treatment services and therefore you should not refer anyone with complex vulnerabilities or needs into this programme.

Companionship Calls
Similar to Check In and Chat, but with the same volunteer for up to three calls a week for six weeks. This is designed to support those that would benefit from continuity of support from the same volunteer.
Available for people who may need a friendly chat and who may be vulnerable in need of a friendly chat and some encouragement to improve their mental health and wellbeing. Read the referral criteria.
