We are sharing the lists of the most borrowed adult and children's books from our libraries last year!

The most borrowed adult book was The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman, who had two books in the top ten most borrowed library books in Suffolk last year. The most popular children’s book was The Baddies by Julia Donaldson, author of children’s favourites The Gruffalo and Stickman.

Some other authors are clearly favourites with library customers with five titles by Dav Pilkey featuring in the top ten list of children’s books. An enduring favourite author with Suffolk borrowers, Elly Griffiths also has three titles in the top ten adult books from last year.

Suffolk fans will have the chance to hear from Elly in person this year with three events coming up. She is appearing at the Suffolk Libraries Online Book Festival on 23 February and at Southwold Library’s event at the nearby Arts Centre on 14 February. She is also coming to Beccles Library but this event is already sold out.

Paul Howarth, Suffolk Libraries Director of Audiences and Content, said:

“It’s clear to see that there are some favourites amongst our readers and thrillers and crime novels are always very popular with library goers! There are some brilliantly imaginative and colourful books for children of all ages in the lists too. These are the books most borrowed from our libraries but there is a huge amount of variety and diversity to choose from in our catalogue too – and adults and children can borrow 20 at a time! The Borrow section on our website is packed with ideas for new and recommended books to try and information for how to get a free library card and borrow one of the many thousands of titles we have on offer!”
