Suffolk Libraries to hold ‘Power of Libraries’ conference for schools

Suffolk Libraries is hosting its inaugural Power of Libraries Conference on 21 March 2024.

This free conference is open to all school staff with an interest in developing a culture of reading for pleasure. It is also an ideal opportunity for school librarians, English leads and leaders looking to invest in their school library and make connections with Suffolk Libraries.

The conference will feature keynote speeches from Nikki Gamble, a lecturer, writer and literary consultant specialising in children’s literature; and local children's author, Dominique Valente, author of the Starfell series.

Those attending can also choose between three inspiring workshops led by experts in their field focusing on reading, books and libraries. The aim is to provide suggestions and ideas for staff to take back to their school.

The conference will run from 1PM to 4PM at the Kesgrave War Memorial Conference Centre.

Erin Hamilton, Suffolk Libraries Children’s Librarian said:

“Suffolk Libraries is pleased to launch its inaugural conference focusing on the power of libraries in schools and communities. The conference is open for all interested school staff and should be an inspiring day of speakers and workshops all based around reading, books, and libraries.  We welcome colleagues from secondary, primary and specialist units.  Come along and be inspired to build a culture of reading for pleasure across your schools.”

Light refreshments will be provided and there is ample free parking on site. Places must be booked in advance before 15 March via this online form.
