Stoke Library in Ipswich to move to new location within Stoke High School

Stoke Library in Ipswich will be moving on 31 January.

The library is based in Stoke High School on Maidenhall Approach and will be moving a short distance from one part of the building to another. The move is taking place as the school are developing the area currently occupied by the library.

The library will be moving to a slightly bigger space very close to the current library so will be easy for customers to find. The space will be more flexible with wheeled shelving to make it easier to hold events and activities in the library.

As the library is only moving from one room to another, the aim is to keep the library open during the move but there may naturally be a little disruption to services between 30 January and 2 February.

All facilities, activities and opening hours will remain the same after the move.

Mark Girling, Manager of Stoke Library, said:

“We’re grateful to the school for supporting the move with the minimum of disruption to our customers and we hope the new space will be an improvement as it’ll provide a bigger and improved space for the local community. Anyone living in the Stoke area of Ipswich would be very welcome to come along after the move to check out the new library! Many people don’t realise the library is a public library as it’s based within the school but it’s open to anyone who wants to come along and take part in activities, borrow books or use our facilities.”

Stoke Library’s opening hours are:

  • Tuesdays from 9.30AM to 12.30PM, and 2PM to 5PM
  • Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2PM to 5PM
  • Fridays and Saturdays from 9.30AM to 12.30PM
  • Sundays from 10AM to 1PM.

The library offers a Baby Bounce session every Tuesday at 10AM, Adult Colouring every other Friday at 10AM and Lego and Crafts club every Sunday at 10.30AM.
