Suffolk Libraries’ new community languages collection for children

Suffolk Libraries, the charity which runs the county’s library service, is excited to share a new collection of children’s books in over 50 different languages.

The books are available in libraries and include fiction and non-fiction titles for children aged 0-16.

Libraries have been busy putting this selection of books together with the help of Suffolk Libraries’ Stock Team and advice from local organisations Let's Talk Reading and the Achievers Supplementary School. New displays will also be rolled out across libraries showcasing the variety of books.

The new Community Languages collection includes titles in Turkish, Arabic, Romanian and Ukrainian plus many more. Ipswich County Library houses the largest collection, but if your local library doesn’t have books in your chosen language, our staff will be happy to reserve titles on your behalf to collect.

Sophie Green, Children’s Librarian for Suffolk Libraries, said:

“Suffolk Libraries works hard to ensure our libraries and services are inclusive and diverse as possible to reflect the communities we serve and we hope these collections of books will help us to engage with even more children and families from different backgrounds.

“We want to reach out to as many people as possible, so if you are aware of a person or organisation who might benefit from access to these books, please let them know.”

Suffolk Libraries also has a selection of Ukrainian eBooks available on our OverDrive service for customers to read for free on their devices.
