Suffolk Libraries presents Sounds of Nashville: an evening of songs and stories

Suffolk Libraries, the charity which runs the county’s library service, is excited to announce a series of live performances taking place in libraries this Autumn.

Local singer-songwriter Tony James Shevlin and Iowa-based musician Scott Stilwell will be touring across four of our libraries, sharing stories and songs about life, travels and more.

Tony James Shevlin is an Ipswich based singer-songwriter who's performed all over the world, from Europe to Russia, Africa, America, the Middle East and Australia. Along the way he’s had songs used by Amnesty International, The Troggs, and REM.

During one of his solo tours of the US a few years ago, he befriended fellow singer songwriter Scott Stillwell from Iowa. Scott is making a trip over to the UK to join Tony for these special performances in libraries.

Performances will be taking place at the following libraries:

The performance taking place at Glemsford Library has been moved to St Mary’s Church, CO10 7QE, due to ongoing refurbishment work at the library.

Tickets are £6 each and are available to purchase online. Doors open at 7:30PM with music starting at 8PM. A licensed bar will be available at each library selling beer, cider, wine and soft drinks.

Daniel Harvey, Head of Community & Performance at Suffolk Libraries, said:

“We’ve hosted a few gigs in our libraries over the years, and they’ve proved to be great venues for live music. Tony Shevlin is something of a local music legend – he played in a gig at Ipswich Library a few years ago, and we’re really pleased to welcome him back.

"Scott Stilwell is also an excellent singer songwriter with a wonderful voice. The two of them complement each other well, and I’m sure people will have a great time!”

Tony James Shevlin said:

“It's great to be out playing again and the fact that it's in my home county is a bonus. I'm extremely honoured to be sharing a stage with my good friend Scott Stilwell once again as he is a singer-songwriter that I admire so much. I know the people of Suffolk are going to enjoy seeing him play.”
