Long Melford Library closed until further notice

We were advised by the Royal British Legion over the weekend that they intend to close their building in Long Melford with immediate effect. We have not been given a reason for the closure.

As the library is based in the building this sadly means we will be unable to open the library again until further notice and its regular activities will be suspended.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience to customers and will keep people informed when there is more news. If the issue with the building is not resolved, Suffolk Libraries will work with the county council to try and find an alternative site to provide a library service in Long Melford as quickly as possible.

The nearest libraries are in Sudbury, Lavenham and Glemsford if local people need to access a library in the meantime. The monthly mobile library service also visits nearby villages such as Acton, Great Waldingfield and Stanstead.

We know some people have reserved library loans to pick up from Long Melford Library and will try and find an alternative location for people to pick them up from. Any loans due back in the coming weeks will have their due dates extended so customers don’t have to worry about returning them.
