Lakenheath and Brandon libraries propose opening hours changes

Two libraries in the West of the county are consulting with customers over proposed changes to their opening hours.

Suffolk Libraries, the charity which runs the library service in Suffolk is proposing a change to the hours at Lakenheath Library and Brandon Library. The changes will hopefully benefit local people by moving hours to times when there is higher demand for the library to be open.

The suggested changes at Lakenheath Library would mean the library is open for longer on busier days with more sociable hours and would close earlier on Friday evenings when the library is very quiet. The library will be open for the same number of hours overall.

Anyone who uses the library is encouraged to fill in a short online survey with paper copies also available in the library. The survey will run until Tuesday 28 June.

Current opening hours at Lakenheath Library:

Monday: Closed
Tuesday: 10AM to 2PM
Wednesday: 2PM to 5PM
Thursday: 12PM to 5PM
Friday: 2PM to 7PM
Saturday: 10AM to 1PM  
Sunday: 10AM to 3PM

Proposed timetable:

Monday: Closed (No change)
Tuesday: 10AM to 2PM (No change)
Wednesday: 12PM to 5PM
Thursday: 10AM to 3PM
Friday: 12PM to 5PM
Saturday: 10AM to 1PM (No change)
Sunday: 10AM to 3PM (No change)

The proposed changes at Brandon Library would mean the library opening on Mondays with additional Wordplay activities for children. The extra hours will be balanced by closing earlier in the afternoons and evenings during the week and on Saturday afternoons.

Anyone who uses the library is encouraged to fill in a short online survey with paper copies also available in the library. The survey will run until Monday 4 July.

Wednesday: 10AM to 3PM
Thursday: 10AM to 5.30PM
Friday: 10AM to 6PM
Saturday: 10AM to 1PM and 2PM to 5PM
Sunday: 10AM to 3PM

Wednesday: 10AM to 3.30PM
Thursday: 10AM to 5PM
