Join us for the Orwell Challenge and help raise funds for Suffolk Libraries

Suffolk Libraries is looking for families and individuals who would like to take part in the Rotary Club’s Orwell Challenge in June and raise money for Suffolk Libraries.

The Rotary Club of Ipswich East has been holding its annual charity walk/run along the banks of the glorious River Orwell for over 40 years. Walkers can choose to take on a distance they feel comfortable with and raise money for Suffolk Libraries by collecting sponsorship.

There are three main distances for walkers – 13 miles, 19 miles and the full 25 miles, but people have the option to walk the three miles to the first base with every step of the walk taking in the beautiful Suffolk countryside.

For those who prefer running to walking, there are full and half marathon length trails to tackle.

Like all charities, the cost-of-living crisis has significantly impacted Suffolk Libraries’ fundraising activities at a time when our services have become even more vital to local communities.

The Orwell Challenge is a great opportunity for people to get outside in the fresh air, feel part of a team, and to help raise money and spread the word about the great work we do in communities across the county.

The 46th Orwell Challenge will take place on Sunday 25 June 2023, and registration for walking or running a full/half marathon trail run is now open! Family tickets are available at a discounted rate and there is an early bird discount of 20% for registrations placed before the 28 February 2023.

Individuals and families are welcome to sign up. If you are interested in taking on the Orwell Challenge and would like more information, contact the Suffolk Libraries fundraising team by emailing fundraising@suffolklibraries.co.uk.

Anyone who fundraises for us will receive a special Suffolk Libraries’ T-shirt, along with help setting up an online fundraising page and support for collecting sponsorships.
