Annual and special events

Suffolk Writes

Get involved with our Suffolk Writes project and have your short story or poem added to an eBook anthology on our OverDrive catalogue.

Suffolk Writes is an annual project giving you the opportunity to make your written work available to Suffolk Libraries customers to borrow. If you have written a short story or poetry and you want people to read it, then this is the project for you!

Submissions for Suffolk Writes will open in November 2021 and will run until the end of November. We will create an anthology eBook with your short stories and poems that will be launched in January 2022 and added to our OverDrive catalogue.

What you need to provide:

We are unable to accept novels or non-fiction submissions. You must own the copyright to any work you submit.

Suffolk Libraries will:

  • Upload your work as part of an anthology to Overdrive, our eBook service

  • Promote the anthology as part of the wider project via our website, social media and other media contacts

Your work will be read by a volunteer reviewer before it is added to our catalogue to ensure that it meets our collection policy criteria. They will be looking at things such as the overall presentation, spelling and grammar, and the content of your work.

If you have written work to contribute or would be interested in being a volunteer reviewer please email suffolkwrites@suffolklibraries.co.uk for more information.

All previous submissions to the Suffolk Writes project are available on our OverDrive catalogue in the 'Local Authors' collection.
