Join us for a special Slaughter in Southwold author talk with Barbara Nadel! Barbara will be talking to us about her career so far and her latest thriller, The Wooden Library. This event takes place at Southwold Arts Centre, IP18 6JP.
Barbara Nadel is a full-time crime writer. She currently produces two
series: firstly the Cetin Ikmen series set in modern Istanbul and
secondly the Hakim and Arnold series set in contemporary London. In
2005, she won the CWA Silver Dagger for her Ikmen book Deadly Web and
in 2024 this series was adapted for TV as The Turkish Detective which
was broadcast on BBC2. Barbara has a degree in psychology and prior to
working as a full-time writer, she worked in psychiatric hospitals and
in the community.
The
Wooden Library is the 27th mystery featuring Çetin İkmen and Mehmet
Süleyman, stars of BBC Two’s gripping crime drama series The Turkish
Detective. Süleyman’s cousin, Nurettin, has bought the Wooden Library,
an ancient building in Istanbul. İkmen sets to work cataloguing the
contents and discovers the dead body of Senol Ulusoy, the man who sold
Nurettin the library. Süleyman’s detective team must dig deep to reveal
a truth that is rooted in the past as well as the present.
This event is part of Slaughter in Southwold, an annual celebration of crime and thriller at Southwold Arts Centre. In partnership with Southwold Library and the Crime Writers’ Association (CWA).
