Clay Character Story Bowl Workshop with Emma Jayne Robertston

Great Cornard Library
Apr 17, 2025 9:45 AM

Join ceramic artist Emma Jayne Robertson for this creative workshop for 10-16 year olds at Great Cornard Library and create your very own clay bowl based on your favourite character or story! This workshop is part of The Blank Page Project.

Workshops take place from 9.45AM to 3.30PM and include lunch, drinks and snacks!

This workshop will get us thinking and talking about our favourite reads and creating our very own clay bowl based on a character or story. Participants will transform a hand-built clay bowl into their favourite character or story book with support and guidance from ceramic artist, Emma Jayne Robertson. The day will begin by exploring ideas through drawing and designing before starting to work with the clay to bring their ideas to life.

We will pinch, coil or form the clay into a bowl shape and then make and attach details to the surface. They will then get the chance to carefully add colour to their creations with ceramic underglaze paints.

The work will be taken back to the EJaRt Creative Studio where it will dry out and then be fired in our kilns with a clear gloss glaze on the surface. They will then be returned to the library venue to be collected. (Please note: This can take 4-6 weeks during busy periods).
