Setting up Freegal on your device

Find out how to install Freegal on your device and start downloading and streaming free music with your library card.

Freegal allows you to download and stream MP3 files of music and MP4 files of music videos. This service is available on a tablet, smartphone or web browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari or Internet Explorer.

Setting up your device to download and stream music with Freegal

On a tablet or smartphone

  1. Download and install the ‘Freegal Music’ app from the App Store or Google Play

  2. When the download is complete, click ‘Open’

  3. When the Freegal app opens, type ‘Suffolk’ in the search bar and click ‘Go’

  4. From the ‘Choose your library’ list, click ‘Suffolk Libraries’

  5. Enter your library card number and PIN, then click ‘Login’

  6. Agree to the terms and conditions

  7. Suffolk Libraries Freegal service will now be available to use

On a computer

  1. Go to the Freegal website

  2. Enter your library card number and PIN to set up an account

  3. Suffolk Libraries Freegal service will now be available to use
