The Velveteen Rabbit comes to life at our libraries this Spring!

Suffolk Libraries has announced four live theatre performances of much-loved children’s story The Velveteen Rabbit at libraries this spring.

The Velveteen Rabbit is based on the book of the same name by Margery Williams. East-Anglian based theatre company Spinning Wheel Theatre will be performing this beautiful story for children at the following libraries:

Tickets are available to purchase at the library or online (Brandon and Southwold only). To book tickets for Felixstowe, speak to a member of staff or call 01394 330850, and for tickets for Halesworth call 01986 875095.

Amy Wyllie, Artistic Director of Spinning Wheel Theatre, said:

"We love performing this show in libraries - they're such fantastic, warm and welcoming spaces in the heart of the community, and the show always feels at home in this environment. Sometimes people feel that theatre isn't 'for them', but when we perform in libraries we're bringing something new into a space they're already familiar and comfortable with, and offers children a way of experiencing stories in a new, vibrant way."

About The Velveteen Rabbit

When the Velveteen Rabbit is unwrapped on Christmas morning, he quickly becomes just another thing gathering dust in the toy box. Shunned by the other playthings, who are braver, more glamorous and have expensive motors and flashing lights, he fears he’ll never be played with. But a chance encounter makes him the favourite toy, and with a little magic and a lot of love, he might even become real!

This spring, Spinning Wheel Theatre brings this beautiful tale life on stage by two actors, inventive puppetry and original songs. A joyful and uplifting tale of magic, friendship and hope, this is a show for all the family to enjoy!
