Suffolk Libraries Day raises over £11k for Suffolk's library service

Suffolk Libraries Day, the annual fundraising campaign to support libraries across the county, has raised over £11,000 to help Suffolk Libraries improve wellbeing across the county.

The event took place on 12 March to raise vital funds for Suffolk Libraries, the charity which runs the library service in Suffolk. Suffolk Libraries Day 2022 included an online book festival, activities in all 44 libraries and live music gigs.

Matt Shenton, Fundraising Coordinator at Suffolk Libraries, said:

“Thank you to everyone involved in making Suffolk Libraries Day 2022 such a success! The final total stands at a brilliant £11,085. We’re very proud of all the fundraising efforts across the county which will go towards supporting wellbeing across Suffolk.”

The online book festival saw live online author interviews with authors Joanne Harris, T.M Logan, Sarah Vaughan and more. These events are available for anyone to watch on our YouTube channel.

Lisa Brennan, organiser of the Suffolk Libraries Day book festival, said:

“It was amazing to have the opportunity to interview such brilliant authors for our SLD online book festival. We also have more author events coming soon - such as an online event with best-selling author David Baldacci! - and we’re thrilled to be able to bring these events to readers across Suffolk.”

Suffolk Libraries will also be hosting two crime writing festivals, starting with Skulduggery in Stowmarket taking place at Stowmarket Library from Friday 22 April. The second annual crime writing festival will be Slaughter in Southwold, starting on 18 June, organised by Southwold Library and taking place at the Southwold Arts Centre.

The following author events will also be taking place and can be booked through Eventbrite.

Suffolk Libraries will also be partnering with schools on a Schools of Suffolk Fundraising Week and will be collecting sponsors for a social media silence in May. There will also be a sponsored bicycle ride for Suffolk Libraries taking place from 7 – 9 May.
