New Saxmundham Library to open soon

Saxmundham Library will soon be moving to a new and larger library building.

The new library will open at 9.30am on Tuesday 29 June.

The site on Street Farm Road has been redeveloped by Suffolk County Council with the library temporarily operating from a Portakabin nearby.

The new and larger library will provide more space for events and activities and allow the library to return to providing a full service to customers, such as PC use and browsing.

This will be the second new library to open this month after Mildenhall Library opened its doors on 1 June.

Liz Gleave, Library Manager of Saxmundham, said:

"We are looking forward to finally opening our new library and once again, receiving customers through the doors. We can't wait for them to browse and access our public computers. Our customers tell us 'We can't wait to see new library' and 'I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the books!'"

The cabin will close at 1pm on Saturday 19 June to allow staff to move to the new library which will open on Tuesday 29 June. For the first two weeks of opening, the library will be open 9.30am to 1.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays. Opening hours will then be reviewed in July.
