New Kickstart roles available at Suffolk Libraries

Kickstart scheme: Proud to be a Kickstart employer

If you're aged 16-24 and are receiving Universal Credit, you have the opportunity to work with us in these exciting new roles! This is the third round of roles we’ve offered since the Kickstart scheme was launched in 2020 and it’s been a great success so far.

Library Service Trainee – This is a front-facing role where you will gain customer service experience, learn library administrative procedures and work to deliver creative activities and events to the community. A real chance to make a difference!

This role is available at Halesworth Library and Kesgrave Library.

Customer Service Assistant - This role is based at Ipswich Library or can be done remotely. You will be helping our customers with all sorts of different queries while learning new technical skills. A great chance to gain excellent customer service experience and the confidence to use new software in the workplace. No two days are the same!

Libraries Engagement Assistant - This role is based at Ipswich Library or can be done remotely. You will undertake an on-the-job development programme to understand the prison library service and will also assist in promoting, delivering, and maintaining the service. A varied role, ideal for a self-starter.

Outreach & Communities Assistant - This role is based at Stowmarket Library. You will work alongside senior library staff on a project to promote and develop two key outreach services: Mobile Libraries and Suffolk Libraries Local. A great opportunity to gain experience in marketing, communications, and promotion.

Property Assistant – This fast-paced, rewarding role is based at Sudbury Library, but will involve travel across the county. You will work closely with the Property Manager and gain valuable experience in project management. An interesting role, ideal for somebody who thinks creatively and enjoys the challenge of solving problems.

Compliance Assistant – This role is based at Sudbury Library with some remote working and travel across the county. You will help ensure Suffolk Libraries continues to be a safe place for everyone. A great opportunity to gain insight into the health and safety industry and compliance through development of policies, procedures, and risk assessments.

Wellbeing Assistant - This role is based at Gainsborough Library. You will also take an active role in delivering activities and events at Gainsborough Library to support wellbeing and creativity. You will contribute to event planning and help to raise awareness of activities via social media. You will work under the guidance of the Library Manager to deliver the library service, gaining valuable experience in customer service. This role offers the chance to make a real difference to the community!
