Over £2,000 raised from successful cycle fundraising challenge!

Suffolk Libraries, the charity which runs the county’s library service, is congratulating a group of fundraising champions who recently successfully completed a 55-mile cycle ride challenge.

Four keen cyclists took part in the Skyline London to Brighton cycle challenge on Sunday 11 September to raise money for Suffolk Libraries.

The cycle ride was a great opportunity for people to get active, push themselves to take on a challenge, and be part of a team.

Our riders, Bill, Carl, Jacob and Simon, started the day in the heart of London before cycling through 55 miles of countryside and arriving on the buzzing Brighton seafront to enjoy a well-deserved ice cream in the sunshine.

In total, the four riders raised over £2,000 on behalf of Suffolk Libraries, which is an amazing achievement. These funds will help Suffolk Libraries continue our charitable work to expand knowledge, connect people, stimulate creativity and foster a sense of community across the county.

Bruce Leeke, CEO of Suffolk Libraries, said:

“We can’t thank the riders enough for their fantastic fundraising success and for giving up their time to train for the cycle challenge for Suffolk Libraries. Their spirit and sense of fun shone through, and it was wonderful to welcome them across the finish line in Brighton after such a gruelling ride.

“Thank you also to Woodbridge, Debenham and Lowestoft libraries who helped support the riders throughout the lead-up to the challenge. We couldn’t have done this without everyone’s collective efforts.”

Bill Money, who raised £730 with the help of his supporters, said:

“Suffolk Libraries is an awesome cause and we really need a continued community library service into the future. The event was a great opportunity to get that message across, raise some funds and take part in a very popular and inclusive multi-charity event. Thank you to all who sponsored us!”

Simon Pyett, who raised over £800, said:

“I love the fact that our libraries sit in the heart of their communities and serve them so well. I love seeing the next generation of children coming through the library and would love that to be extended out to as many people as possible. Therefore, I happily volunteered to raise some much-needed funds for this much-needed service.

“Thank you to all who supported, sponsored and expressed their good wishes towards me.”
