Eye Library unveiled a new community fridge from 20 July in collaboration with the environmental charity Hubbub.
The community fridge will provide a new food bank space in the heart of Eye to help reduce food waste and provide food to those who need it.
The fridge will be managed by a small team of volunteers who will help fill, empty, and clean it on a regular basis. Local supermarkets have kindly agreed to donate food to keep the shelves stocked.
Anyone in the community will be able to help themselves to items from the fridge, and there will be a collection pot for donations to put towards running and stocking it.
The library will also be accepting donations of surplus food from members of the community, with the exception of cooked food, raw milk and cheeses, and unlabeled, multiple-ingredient items.
The fridge was officially switched on from 20 July.
